Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled
Jonathan Pennington preaches through most of John 14, where Jesus comforts His disciples just hours before His arrest, opening and closing with the same charge not to let their hearts be troubled. He walks through the questions of Thomas, Philip, and Judas (not Iscariot), showing that Jesus never explained how the spiritual realities work but instead pointed the men to Himself and answered them with believe, believe, and love. He also addresses the promise of the Comforter and defends the doctrine of the Trinity against the claim that Jesus is the Father, closing with the reminder that we do not have to understand everything in order to trust God's promises.
Ephesians
Pastor Pierucki gives an overview of the book of Ephesians, working chapter by chapter through the spiritual blessings believers already possess in Christ, the doctrine of election and man's free will, the dispensation of the Gentiles, unity in the local church, and the armor of God. He answers Calvinism from Matthew 22, Acts 7, and Matthew 23, showing that men resist God's call, and he defends salvation by grace through faith from Ephesians 2:8-9 alongside Romans, Galatians, and Titus. He also shares his own testimony of what changed after he got saved, and warns that faith in good works, baptism, or good living instead faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ will send a person to hell.
The Return of Christ
Dale Moore traces the second coming of Christ across the whole Bible, using a map of the Middle East to follow the route Scripture lays out. Starting from Matthew 24, Matthew 26, and Mark 14, he moves through Song of Solomon, Joel, Habakkuk, Psalms, Deuteronomy, Judges, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Revelation to show the Lord coming out of the wilderness with His saints, up the King's Highway through Edom and Moab, across Jordan to the Mount of Olives, and through the eastern gate to sit on the throne. Along the way he urges believers to get saved before the tribulation, to read the Bible for themselves, and to be prayed up and ready, since the Lord could come at any time.
The Prosperity of the Wicked
Jonathan Pennington takes up a question people have asked in every generation, why those who lie, cheat, and hurt others seem to do well. Working through Jeremiah's complaint in Jeremiah 12, God's answer to Job out of the whirlwind, and Asaph's turnaround in Psalms 73, he shows that it is not a sin to ask God why, but it is a sin to accuse God of unrighteousness, and that envy often lies behind the question. He closes at 2 Peter 3, explaining that the same long-suffering that gives the wicked time to repent is the very mercy that gave each believer time to be saved.
Moses the Servant in Psalms
Pastor Pierucki traces the references to Moses throughout the book of Psalms, showing him as shepherd, priest, intercessor, meek man, and servant of God, then settles into Psalms 90, the prayer of Moses. He teaches that God has always led His people through men, that every believer is a saint and a king and priest called to intercede, and that a servant's heart is what fills the emptiness people try to satisfy with sin. He closes with the request of Psalms 90:17, urging hearers to do all their work for the Lord so the beauty of God shows in their lives.
Did Jesus Claim to be God
Mark Palmer answers the claim that Jesus never said He was God by setting Old Testament statements about God alongside Christ's own words in the New Testament, starting with the I AM of Exodus 3 and Jesus' declaration in John 8. He works through the good shepherd, the light, the ruler of all, the judge of the nations, the bridegroom, the everlasting word, and the first and the last, showing the same person in both testaments. He closes with a plain gospel presentation, explaining repentance as a change of heart rather than religious activity, and defends the believer's eternal security.
Jesus in the Psalms
Pastor Pierucki walks through the Messianic Psalms, showing how passages written a thousand years before Christ's birth were fulfilled exactly in the New Testament. He covers Psalms 2 and the King who rules with a rod of iron, Psalms 16 and the resurrection, the crucifixion detailed in Psalms 22, the eternal throne promised to David, the priesthood after the order of Melchizedek explained in Hebrews, and Psalms 102 as proof of Christ's deity as Creator. He uses these texts to answer groups that deny who Jesus is, and reminds hearers that religion, Sabbath keeping, and good living save no one, only faith in Christ.
Water of the Word
Nathan Grossman continues his study on water as a picture of the Word of God, beginning with Christ's call to the thirsty in John 7 and the living water promised in John 4. He points to David's thirst for God in Psalms 42 and his refusal to drink the water from Bethlehem's well in 2 Samuel 23, warns that gluttony and idleness pull men away from craving the scriptures, and uses 1 Corinthians 3 to show that it does not matter who does the planting or watering as long as the preaching is right. He also challenges believers not to close their hearts to preaching because of who is preaching or how it makes them feel, and encourages them from Ecclesiastes 11 to keep sowing, since God gives the increase.
Psalms in the Heart
Pastor Pierucki continues his book by book teaching with an overview of Psalms, noting the blessed man of chapter 1, the emphasis on God's word in chapter 119, the repentance psalms, and the Messianic psalms that point to Christ, including the promise of David's eternal throne in Psalms 89 as proof of eternal security. He then focuses on the heart, which is mentioned 121 times in Psalms, contrasting the hard, bitter, and proud heart with the clean, fixed, and tender heart God wants to give. He shares stories from his years in Romania, including learning to pray Psalms 51:10 while driving, and closes by explaining that a man must believe in his heart, not just his head, that Christ died for his sins and rose again.
The Goodness in Habakkuk
Dale Moore preaches from the last three verses of Habakkuk 3, contrasting the famine and desolation of verse 17 with the prophet's choice to rejoice in the Lord anyway. He traces the famine historically in Judah's judgment under Babylon, prophetically in the tribulation and the two witnesses of Revelation 11, and spiritually in Israel's fruitlessness pictured by the fig tree, then points to the believer's need to abide in Christ to bear fruit. He closes with three things the believer has in verse 19: strength, sure-footedness, and high places, and reminds the church that a saved person cannot fall from grace and can rejoice no matter how bad the world gets.
True Victory
Missionary Allen Johnson of Wings Bearing Precious Seed preaches from 1 Corinthians 15:57-58 on the victory God has already given believers and how that victory should show itself in daily living. He explains three parts of true victory: victory for saints who stay steadfast in service and satisfied in the Savior, victory for sinners through the scriptures and salvation, and victory for the Savior as grace is received and God is glorified. He shares about his family's 52 years of missionary work in Brazil, a couple saved on a trip to Romania who later joined a new church in Spain, and the Moravian call to missions, and he urges the church to pray for laborers and keep getting the Bible to the lost.
The Practical Value of Scripture
Mark Palmer walks through a series of passages showing why a believer needs to read the Bible and pray consistently, starting with Matthew 22:29 and Jesus' rebuke to those who err because they do not know the scriptures. He covers salvation by the scriptures in 2 Timothy 3:15, the new birth in John 3 and 1 Peter 1, faith coming by hearing in Romans 10, sanctification in John 17 and Ephesians 5, separation in 2 Corinthians 6, and the word as a lamp in Psalms 119. He shares his own testimony of getting saved at 13, the years he wasted when he stopped reading and praying, and urges parents to train their children in the simple truths of the gospel so those truths stay with them.
2nd Corinthians: How We Finish Well
Pastor Pierucki walks through 2 Corinthians chapter by chapter, showing what God expects of a local church and how believers finish the race well together. He covers the test of examining yourself in chapter 13, the comfort of God in chapter 1, the sufferings and rejection that come with serving Christ, the judgment seat of Christ and rewards for service, cheerful giving, Satan's ministers who preach a works salvation, and Paul's thorn in the flesh. He includes personal testimony from jail ministry, tract and Bible distribution, the flea market outreach, and apologizes to the church for how he handled recent attacks.
The Truth of Ministries
Pastor Pierucki opens with 1 John 1 on walking in the light, confessing sin, and staying in fellowship with God, then applies the theme of truth to the ministry itself. He gives an unusually personal account of 36 years of service, including 12 years in Sturgis, deputation with five children, church planting and orphan work in Romania, and conflicts with pastors and workers who would not deal honestly. He warns that ministry brings real wounds and false accusations, insists that standing for the truth on salvation by grace, eternal security, and believer's baptism is always right, confesses of failures of his own, and closes with story after story of God's provision to show the blessings far outweigh the burdens.
The Covenants
A guest speaker, Dave Lueloff, pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Roseville, Michigan, condenses a Sunday school series into one message on the covenants of the Bible, beginning in Romans 11:1 and working through the rainbow covenant in Genesis 9, the unconditional and everlasting land covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15 and 17, the conditional Mosaic covenant in Exodus 19 through 24, and the new covenant promised to Israel in Jeremiah 31 and Hebrews 8. He explains the difference between conditional and unconditional blood covenants, touches on the seventieth week of Daniel, the 144,000, the Antichrist, and Israel being grafted in again, then closes with the new covenant in Christ's blood and what it means that a testament takes effect when the testator dies. Pastor Pierucki follows with remarks on why replacement theology is wrong and how God's everlasting covenant with Israel pictures the security of the believer.
Wake Up
Micah Reaves preaches from Romans 13:11-12 on the urgency of waking out of spiritual sleep, using an alarm clock and the snooze button to picture how believers put off the work God has given them. He points to 1 Thessalonians 5, 1 Corinthians 15:34, and 1 Corinthians 11 to show that Christians are children of the day who ought to be watching, sober, and examining themselves rather than assuming someone else will do their job. He closes by reminding hearers that the lost are dying every second, that God is not willing that any should perish, and that every believer has a work to do until Christ returns.
2 Kings
Pastor Pierucki continues his overview of 2 Kings, beginning with Elijah's departure in a whirlwind and Elisha's request for a double portion, then moving quickly through the healing of the waters, Naaman the leper, Gehazi's greed, the floating axe head, the four lepers at the Syrian camp, and the repeated pattern of kings who did evil as their fathers had done. Along the way he turns to Romans 8 on the security of the believer, 2 Chronicles 32 on Hezekiah and pride, and Galatians 5 on walking in the Spirit. He urges hearers to pray for laborers, to stop trying to fix their own lives, marriages, and prodigals apart from God, and to be faithful examples to their children and grandchildren.
Habakkuk 3: Part 2
Dale Moore continues his study of Habakkuk 3, picking up in verse 8 and working through verse 12. He covers God's boundaries for the seas, the chariots and horses of the Lord, the bow and spear as pictures of the Word of God, the oath God swore to Abraham and the tribes, and the signs surrounding the second advent, drawing in Job 26, Joel 2, Isaiah 63, Zechariah 1 and 6, Psalms 148, Matthew 24, and Revelation 6. He closes by urging believers to keep their eyes open to the things of God, to be ready and prayed up, and to stand without surrender on salvation by grace and the finished work of Christ.
Forgiveness Chapter 2
Mark Palmer continues his two-part study on how to forgive, working from Matthew 5:44 and its call to love enemies, bless those who curse, do good to those who hate, and pray for those who persecute. He brings in Romans 12, Proverbs 24, Luke 6:31, and Isaiah 43:18 to show that love must be genuine rather than a false front, that vengeance belongs to God, and that returning good for evil disarms people who expect hatred back. He shares stories from his years in retail and manufacturing about handling angry customers, false accusations, and coworkers, and encourages believers to do simple kindnesses now that open the door to witness later.
Lying Vanities
Jonathan Pennington preaches from Jonah 2:8, working through three questions: what a lying vanity is, what it means to observe one, and what it means to forsake your own mercy. Using 1 Samuel 12, Psalms 115, and the account of Jonah fleeing to Tarshish, he shows that a lying vanity is an empty thing that promises what only God can give, whether money, reputation, or trust in self, and that holding onto it costs more than it ever offered. Pastor Pierucki works through the book of Colossians, covering three major themes: what we are in Christ, what God's will is for the believer, and who Jesus Christ is. He walks through the epistle chapter by chapter, touching on being made saints, being complete and forgiven in Christ, the warning against philosophy and traditions of men, the instruction to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, and the mystery of Christ in you, the hope of glory. He urges believers to test teachers by their fruit and pride, to hold God to His promises in faith, and to remember that no matter how far a Christian wanders, the Father is waiting for him to come back.
Habakkuk 3
Dale Moore continues his study through Habakkuk, working verse by verse through the opening of chapter 3, covering the prophet's prayer for revival and mercy, God's brightness described as light, the horns of power in His hand, and the shaking of the nations and mountains before Him. He draws in Exodus, Psalms 18, Isaiah 40, and Zechariah 14 to show God's power over darkness and judgment, and reminds believers that as kings and priests we are given a book that tells us how to rule and how to stay clean. He closes with practical encouragement to keep praying, keep going to church even when you do not feel like it, and keep handing out gospel tracts, since we never know who God will save through them.
Benefits of Being Part of a Local Church
Preaching from Matthew 18:20, Pastor Pierucki lays out why God places His people in a local assembly, covering church discipline, the pictures of sheep and shepherd, the body with Christ as the head, and the church's authority over baptism and the Lord's Supper. He warns from experience that believers who pull away from a local church end up exposed to Satan's work in their lives, and he answers the idea of an invisible universal church as convenient cover for those unwilling to submit. He closes by pointing to Ephesians 4 and Acts 13, urging Christians to get into a church, work together under God's authority, and let Him use them rather than serving Him their own way.
Water Part 2
In this second message on water, Nathan Grossman traces the theme of water through Scripture, from the mist that watered the earth in Genesis 2, to the flood that destroyed it in Genesis 6, to Isaiah 55 where water pictures the word of God going out and covering the earth. He warns that a gospel mixed with anything else is contaminated, points to a spiritual famine of hearing God's word, and answers the claim that water baptism saves by working through 1 Peter 3. He closes with Abraham and David, two men who gave water to the Lord, and calls for gratitude rather than the pride and fullness that sear the conscience.
