Mercies of God

Joseph Guevara · June 7, 2026 · 12:15 PM service

Joseph Guevara preaches from 2 Peter 2:6-9, where God calls Lot just, righteous, and godly, and shows how the Lord knows how to deliver His people out of temptation. He points out that Lot's soul was vexed by what he saw and heard every day in Sodom because he had no church, no fellowship, and no godly friends, and warns that believers who neglect the Word of God, prayer, and the assembly will find their souls in the same condition. He also works through Romans 3 and 4, Galatians 3, and Habakkuk's statement that the just shall live by faith to show that no man is justified by works, and closes by asking what temptations we face and whether we still take time to meditate on God's Word.

“And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:”
2 Peter 2:6-9 (KJV)
