Changed and Missing Verses In the NIV

Mark Palmer · May 3, 2026 · 10:00 AM service

Mark Palmer teaches on the King James Bible issue by walking through a list of verses that are changed or entirely absent from the NIV, including Colossians 1:14, Matthew 17:21, Matthew 18:11, Mark 9:44, Luke 17:36, John 5:4, Acts 8:37, and 1 John 5:7. He begins with the warnings in Deuteronomy 4 and Revelation 22 against adding to or taking away from God's words, and explains why missing verses mean missing instruction on the blood of Christ, salvation, hell, prayer and fasting, and baptism after belief. He also addresses the manuscript question, copyrights on modern versions, the 1769 spelling corrections in the King James, and urges hearers to study these things out for themselves rather than take a preacher's word for it.

“And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
Acts 8:37 (KJV)
