1 Kings: Hearing God

Pastor Pierucki finishes his overview of 1 Kings, working through Elijah at the brook Cherith, the widow of Zarephath and the principle of taking care of God's servants, the contest with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, and Elijah's depression under the juniper tree. He turns aside to 1 Corinthians 9 and 1 Timothy 5 on supporting pastors and missionaries, tells how the church's prophet's chamber and mission giving have grown, and warns against the empty show of false religion. He closes on the still small voice, sharing personal accounts of God speaking to him at his salvation, in his call to Romania, and on a sledding hill with his son, and asks whether hearers truly know God.
“And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”
